Hartside Nursery Garden is an Alpine Plant Nursery specialising in propagating, growing and selling rare and unusual plants from around the world.

Opening Times

The Nursery will be open in 2024 on the Weekends of 27th – 28th April; 25th – 26th May; 29th – 30th June; 27th – 28th July and the 19th – 20th October when we hope to welcome visitors to view the progress in the garden and we will have a wide selection of plants available for sale. We will be open from 11.30am and 4.00pm each day on these weekends.

At all other times by Appointment – please give several days notice. A list of the plants you are looking for is helpful before you arrive.

How to Find Us

The Entrance to our Nursery Car Park is located off the main A686 Alston to Penrith Road, one and a half miles South West of Alston on the Penrith Road - Please Note that many sat nav's do not always direct you to the correct entrance as there are several properties with the same Post Code. Please enquire about a different entrance if staying in one of our Holiday Cottages.

Primula ‘Tantallon’. A wonderful and showy, but fairly easy hybrid, Primula whitei x Primula edgeworthii which is rarely offered for sale.
